Katherine “Leigh” Josie, Ph.D.

STAFF PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Leigh Josie is a compassionate advocate for neurodiversity and child and adolescent well-being and strives to support you and your child on a journey of understanding, acceptance, and growth.

Dr. Josie specializes in working with children and adolescents across a range of diagnoses, including learning differences such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia; ADHD and executive function challenges; autism spectrum and social processing differences; anxiety and depression; neurological conditions such as pediatric epilepsy, brain injury, and stroke; and chronic illnesses such as pediatric cancer, brain tumor, juvenile diabetes, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

Dr. Josie obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Cincinnati and completed her predoctoral internship and her postdoctoral fellowship through the Yale Child Study Center, with a specialization in pediatric psychology. Dr. Josie then completed a two-year research fellowship in Child Health and Behavior Research at Case Western University School of Medicine. Following, Dr. Josie was employed as a pediatric psychologist in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

Through comprehensive assessments and neuro-affirming recommendations, Dr. Josie works to provide families with insights and strategies that honor child's unique strengths and challenges.

When Dr. Josie is not working with families, you can often find her spending time with her husband, daughter, and two Vizslas. She and her family love exploring, whether it’s hiking or mountain biking the WNC trails or discovering a new place to enjoy Asheville’s many culinary offerings. She is also a dedicated yogi and avid reader of mystery and suspense novels.
