Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs)

Section Styles sticky-top

When a child is struggling in school, it can be overwhelming for families to figure out what is going on and how best to help. Schools often share the goal of supporting students, but they must work within federal and state regulations that guide how evaluations and services are provided. Sometimes families want a broader perspective or a second opinion to better understand their child’s needs. In these cases, an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) can provide a comprehensive view of a child’s learning profile, social-emotional functioning, and educational needs to help guide supports.

  • An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) is a comprehensive assessment conducted by a licensed psychologist who is not employed by the school district. Families may request an IEE when they would like an objective, independent perspective on their child’s strengths, challenges, and needs.

The purpose of an IEE is to ensure that children receive an accurate and thorough assessment that will help guide the development of individualized supports and interventions at school.

  • At CReATE, our psychologists provide compassionate, independent assessments that offer families and schools a comprehensive understanding of a child’s strengths and needs. Each evaluation includes a detailed, easy-to-understand report with practical, actionable recommendations designed to support a child’s learning and development. We work closely with school teams to ensure our findings and guidance are clearly communicated and thoughtfully considered, while also supporting families by answering questions and providing guidance throughout the process.

Our goal is to make the IEE experience smooth, collaborative, and empowering for students and families and schools.
