Mary Crowson, Ph.D.

STAFF PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Mary Crowson has been a licensed psychologist since 2003. She has conducted hundreds of psychological and neuropsychological evaluations of children, adolescents, and young adults since 2014 when she joined CReATE. Her expertise is in the areas of neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ASD – Autism Spectrum, ADHD, Learning Disorders), complex mental health (e.g., depression, anxiety) and developmental trauma. 

Dr. Crowson received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Miami. She completed her internship at LaRabida Children’s Hospital in Chicago and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Developmental Science at UNC-Chapel Hill. She completed two additional years of post-doctoral training in clinical neuropsychology through Clinical Neuroscience Services of Western North Carolina. She is PsyPact certified both for in-person and teleassessment evaluations which allows her to complete evaluations throughout much of the country (37 states are part of PsyPact).

Previously, Dr. Crowson was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UNC-Chapel Hill, in the Program on Childhood Trauma and Maltreatment. She provided therapy, forensic and psychological evaluations, and expert testimony.

In her free time, she has taken up painting and reads voraciously. She lives with her husband, almost grown children, and three dogs. She feels lucky to live in such a beautiful place and enjoys finding new waterfalls in Western North Carolina.
